This qualification enables learners to develop knowledge and understanding of caring for individuals with dementia. Successful completion of the units will allow learners to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of dementia and its effects.

  • how to support mental well-being through various stages of life
  • mental ill health, treatment options available and the potential consequences of mental ill health
  • the skills required to work in a mental health service.

NCFE CACHE LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE IN THE PRINCIPLES OF END OF LIFE CARE

This qualification provides learners with an understanding of the principles of end of life care, including knowledge of:

  • the definition of end of life care
  • approaches to end of life care
  • how to support a person’s familial, spiritual, social and emotional needs
  • how to confront issues of death and bereavement.

NCFE CACHE LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE IN UNDERSTANDING AUTISM

The objectives of this qualification are to gain knowledge and understanding of autism, including:

  • how to adopt a positive approach to supporting individuals with autism
  • the current legislative framework relating to individuals with autism and how different theories have developed over time
  • how to support and manage transitions for individuals with autism
  • the range of therapeutic interventions and support available for individuals with autism and co-occurring conditions
  • how to support communication and social interaction for individuals with autism
  • how to develop an understanding of how individuals with autism may be vulnerable and the support worker’s role and responsibilities relating to safeguarding according to legislative requirements.

NCFE CACHE LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE IN PREPARING TO WORK IN ADULT SOCIAL CARE

This qualification provides an ideal taster for those who may be new to the sector or new to the world of work. It is accessible to learners of all ages who may want to understand more about working in health and social care in an unsupervised capacity. It aims to introduce some basic concepts of caring and preparation for employment in the sector.

The qualification covers the areas of communication, equality, diversity and inclusion, personal development, role of the social care worker, handling information, health and safety, safeguarding, duty of care and person-centred approaches.

It is a must-have for anyone taking the adult Advanced Health and Social Care Apprenticeship.
